DeBerry sixth-grader Keyaira Rector, 11, and fourth-grader Kypton Bryant, 10, hand made 50 cards for residents at Panola County Nursing and Rehabilitation recently.
The brother and sister delivered them last Wednesday to Deshana Hill, therapist and director of rehabilitation, at the facility.
Both children are members of 4-H and have done community service throughout the year, including Keyaira taking a looming class and making hats for cancer patients that were dropped off at a cancer hospital in Dallas and both children making blessing bags for the homeless and handing them out.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Keyaira has expressed concern when she realized residents at nursing homes couldn’t see their families. The children have visited all the nursing homes in the past delivering handmade Christmas ornaments and have enjoyed visiting with all the residents. Kypton has Down Syndrome and can’t talk, but his smile and laughter and the love he brings to everyone has always been a blessing to everyone.
Each card delivered last Wednesday was prayed over by the children and their family.
